La Belle Vie

Damask Divas Blog Hop

Welcome to the Love of Paper Crafts Blog !!!  I am so glad to be apart of your day today.  I was very excited when I found out that this months paper pack is La Belle Vie.  It is hands down my favorite pack.  I am a huge fan of Paris and this pack just makes my day.

“If you came from Melissa Lind, you are in the right place.  If you have jumped here and just discovered our blog hop, feel free to check the list at Damask Divas blog to find the complete list of blog hop participants.”

I made a home decor piece using the display tray.  What I like about the tray is that it gives you 12 little unique squares that you get to decorate differently.  Each square telling a different story.  I used my Cricut to help me with a few of the decorations.  The first Cricut cartridge that I used was of course our Cricut Artiste and then second cartridge is Sophisticated by Teresa Collins.

Lastly I made this card for a friend who is having her first child next year.  I really love the clothes line look.  I cut the diaper with my Cricut using Artiste and the onseis is hand cut from an image that I traced from the internet.

I hope that I have inspired you today to make a beautiful piece for your home. One that is priceless and one of a kind.  Enjoy the rest of the blog hop and I look forward to seeing you again.  Thanks for your comments and for following my blog.....Until next time

“The next blog on the list is Diahana Barnes . Hope you have a great time on our hop and checking out all the creations using La Belle Vie paper pack. If you get lost, just hop on over to Damask Divas Blog for the full list.”

Project Inspiration 2012 Autumn/Winter Idea Book: Patterns From The Heart

Studio J® Tricks to Add Flair to Your Layouts

Even though Studio J® is fast and easy to use, it is helpful to know some great tricks that can make customizing your layouts even more exciting. Here are some Studio J tricks straight from our professional Close To My Heart artists:
1. Customize your background and texture paper. You can change the color and intensity of the background and texture paper included in whichever kit you choose. Simply select the piece of background and texture paper, change the color in the color selection tool, and increase or decrease the intensity of the color in that same popup box.
2. Crop My Stickease® quotes, titles, and tags. The cropping feature on the My Stickease images allows you to select a section of a quote, title, or tag to use as a border or other embellishment.
3. Create a customized My Stickease image. If you have a specific image in mind to use as an embellishment on your page, you can create a customized My Stickease to fit your theme perfectly. Simply add a text box, photo hanger, ribbon, ribbon slides, and Stickease to create the little suitcase! So easy! Be sure to crop or send elements behind other elements when necessary, and add several elements together for a unique look!

4. Select more than one element at a time. If you want to move several elements of your layout at once, simply click and drag your mouse around the elements you would like to select. Let’s take buttons, for example. After the buttons have been selected, you can click the icons in the popup box to choose to align the buttons vertically or horizontally if you desire.
5. Make faux washi tape with vellum text boxes. To create the look of a piece of clear washi tape, make a small rectangular text box, filled with vellum background (this is the default color for text boxes). You can make the tape strips as large or small as you want, or even layer them for more emphasis.

6. Stretch one photo across multiple photo wells. If you have fewer photos than photo wells, instead of deleting the excess wells, try scaling the picture to a larger size and then copying the picture to other photo wells and matching the photos up until they align with an almost seamless image. This trick works best with photo wells that are adjacent to each other.
7. Create ruffled ribbon. Select “Ribbons” in the drop-down menu under the Embellishments toolset. Choose ribbon tab and rotate the tab so that it is vertical on the page. Then layer several tabs on top of one another, sending every other one to the back to create a ruffled look.

8. Create a jagged border with text boxes. You can create a jagged border simply by rotating multiple text boxes about 45 degrees and making them the same color as the background. Put these boxes on top of a long, rectangular box of another color, and you’ve got a jagged border!

9. Change the background of your layout. Sometimes you may like the photo and journal arrangement in a layout, and yet want to change the background colors. Because photos sit on top of everything else, this is easy to do. Simply pull a journaling box over the space you want for a different background and fill it with a color from the color selection tool or a patterned paper from the Papers toolset. Then, send it backwards until the photo wells are on top of your new background.
Bonus Trick! Use keyboard keys to make embellishments. Did you know that some of the best tools for creating custom embellishments are the basic keys on your keyboard? It’s as simple as typing into a journaling box with no background color. Use periods to make a polka dot pattern, angle brackets to create a trendy Chevron look, overlapping pound signs to make burlap, question marks to make rope, and so much more!

More Out of Home Décor

There are so many creative ways to use hand-crafted 3-D items. Use our great products to create home décor that will bring a fun and unique accent in your home. It’s easy to use Close To My Heart products you already know and love—with a different twist!

This festive thankful countdown uses the My Creations® cubby to celebrate Thanksgiving. Fill the Cricut®-cut boxes with reminders of things you are thankful for, and share the grateful fun with your family. Use it to countdown to your favorite holiday, like Thanksgiving, or use different embellishments and countdown to a loved one’s birthday to show them how much you love them.

This adorable star was made from Collection Two of the Hostess Collections, available through Hostess Rewards in the Autumn Winter 2012 Idea Book. Show your hostesses this spunky star so they have an idea of what they can create from this particular Hostess Collection. While the Dakota paper packet, Casual Expressions stamp set, and Dakota Complements Foil Images have a country feel, you and your customers can use all of these same materials to make a welcoming star for your front door.

Everyday household items can also be combined with Close To My Heart products to create dazzling home décor. Use the Flirty paper packet and your Cricut® machine, along with everyday household items such as a flower pot and Styrofoam ball, to create a papercrafted tree. Or add a few Dimensional Elements to the autumn colors of the Flirty papers to create a desk calendar using two My Creations blocks. You can even use cute Cricut®-cut flowers and leaves to make a festive banner!

For displaying precious memories, the display tray is a perfect fit! Display photos, stamped sentiments, Dimensional Elements, and other embellishments for a prized layout that you can proudly hang anywhere in your home. The display tray is easy to personalize, too; cover up several windows with cardstock for larger photos!
Show your customers how they can make eye-catching home décor in a cinch. Creating unique home décor is so much fun to do; the trick is deciding which project to create first!

Everyday Embellishing

It’s easy to incorporate chalk, metallics, and bling into your artwork with a few embellishments you can use on your everyday papercrafting projects. Let me show you how!

This Merry & Bright page uses dots created with the gold metallic marker to add extra sparkle around the edges of the page. Notice the scalloped accents with outlines in gold marker which adds dimension and draws your eye. Our metallics markers will make your artwork sparkle!

Add heart to your art with an extra touch of bling—cover your Dimensional Elements with silver Glitz™ glitter gel, a clear Sparkle or two, or a touch of silver from the metallics marker! Your heartfelt messages will bedazzle your loved ones.

The chalk marker and 12" × 12" chalkboard sheet are a perfect pair for creating a unique project. Journal and embellish your memories with the quaint look of a chalkboard—minus the dust—and a lot of freehand fun, perfect to display in your albums or on your walls!

If you haven’t had a chance to scrapbook your Halloween photos yet, here’s a great idea for a spooky page. The Haunted assortment with its cute skull brads, spider badge buttons, and more, is the perfect go-to for scary Halloween memories. It also coordinates nicely with the Moonlight paper packet and Moonlight Complements Dimensional Elements.

Tell your story with papers and accents that complement your unique tale. The Memo assortment’s little note tags are great for embellishing and journaling all in one, and the tiny epoxy numbers mimic old typewriter keys. Pair the Memo assortment with our Scholastic paper packet and My Stickease® assortment for your school-themed memories and more!

This elegant layout is tied together by antique elements from the Baroque assortment, Avonlea Complements canvas shapes, and the beautiful Avonlea papers. Add a timeless quality to your memories with graceful keys, broaches, and buttons from the Baroque assortment.
Whatever your project, embellishing will bring your artwork to life. Tell your customers about these exciting embellishments so they can start shopping today to add that extra something to their everyday projects!

Gift tags using the Cricut Artiste cartridge

Hello my beautiful followers....I made these gift tags last night using the Cricut Artiste cartridge.  I used red as the shape of the tags and cut them out at 3".  The green squares are cut out at 2.25" and the brown paper is cut at 2".  I used a retired stamp set called Holiday Blocks B1284 to stamp the image on the brown paper.  After stamping the image I used black embossing powder Z670  and if gives it a very shiny black image.  I love embossing powder so much.  It makes all of your creations pop and last a long time.  You can also color with markers in the embossed part without running of the colors.  Which to me is wonderful.  I hope that you have a very special Thanksgiving with whoever you celebrate with.  Until next time :)

Clearly the Best: The Magic of Monograms (S01E09)

It's time to be Flirty...Blog Hop

If you came from Traci Williams at Paper Crafting 101, you are in the right place.  If you have jumped here and just discovered our blog hop, feel free to check the list at Damask Divas blog to find the complete list of blog hop participants.

This month we used the Flirty paper pack. This is one of my favorites. I love paper that uses flowers as well as the stamp set that matches. The stamp set I used is Love Blooms and our alcohol marker set to color in the roses. I used 3 different marker sets for the roses which are Twilight, Hollyhock and Smokey Plum. The edge of the roses are Smokey Plum as well. I layered the 3 white circles then stamped and colored the roses. After that I put orange circles between the white paper and it gave it a nice layered look. If your interested in what I used take a look at the Flirty Workshop on the go and make yours too. I hope you like this design and it inspires you to make something similar to this.

The next blog on the list is Cydney Fowler at Cydney Fowler Creations. Hope you have a great time on our hop and checking out all the creations using Flirty paper pack. If you get lost, just hop on over to Damask Divas blog for the full list.

Studio J Layouts I made

Mojo Monday #265

Hello my friends...We survived Hurricane Sandy.  I thought it was going to be a lot worse then what it was but we were still prepared.  I was excited about making this card today.  I looked at the layout and I really wanted to do something different with the shape.  I am in need of masculine cards so I thought this would be perfect.  I used the Cricut Artiste cartridge to make the shirt and tie for the card.  If you look in the manual it's on page 75.  I cut it out at 4.5" since the card is roughly 6x6.  I hope that this inspires you to make a craft of some kind like this and I appreciate you stopping by and leaving a message.  Be sure to stop by Mojo Monday and check out all the other entries.....Until next time

Candy filled coffins

I had fun making these today.  I made about 25 candy filled coffins for the trunk or treaters at my church.  I hope they like them cause it took me quite some time.  I used the coffin design from the Cricut Artiste Cartridge.  It's on page 76 3D object and I cut it at 4 inches.  I hope this inspires you to make something for your trick or treaters...until next time my friends

Mojo Monday #264

Hello my friends...Here is my Mojo Monday card for this week.  I had a fun time making this card.  I used the La Belle Vie workshop on the go kit.  This kit has beautiful paper and comes with a fun stamp set.  The stamp set goes great with the Artiste Cricut Cartridge.  All the measurements are on the stamp holder so you can cut the paper on the Cricut and stamp it perfectly onto the paper. I used liquid glass on the image as well to give it some different texture.  I hope that this inspires you to make a card today.  Be sure to stop by Mojo Monday and see the different enteries.  Until next time......

Mojo Monday #263

Hello my friends.  Hope your all having a good day.  The paper pack that I used for Mojo Monday is Dakota    .  At first I thought that I wasn't such a fan of it but as I was making this card it grew on my.  I love all the versatility that this design gave me.  I used some embellishments on the card that I thought went great with the themed paper.  Burlap is something that I am using with my paper projects and I think that it gives it a great look.  I embossed the top circle with silver embossing powder and then used the Artiste kudos stamp set (D1530) as the stamped image.  Then I used the image "Love u" from the Artiste word ballon stamp set (D1531) in the middle.  I hope that you enjoyed this card and be sure to stop by Mojo Monday and check out all the other fabulous enteries.  Until next time...
